The new Tarantino/Rodriguez film, Grindhouse, has been canned for UK release (Times) by US producers after recouping a mere $23 million of its $100 million production costs on US release.
Genius. Take two of the hottest cult directors in the history of cinema, produce and market their film (I can confirm it was trailering as recently as last Friday) and then withdraw it from cinema release. Fans now have two options: wait until the studios change their minds, or BitTorrent it
(here's a link) (actually, on reflection providing a link might not be my best plan from a legal point of view: just Google it).
That'll be a few thousand more non-paying BitTorrent users and a few thousand fewer cinema-goers then. Way to accelerate the demise of your doomed ex gateway monopoly guys!
